Rocky Doris Creative & Netflix: Absurd Planet
At Pond5, we think animals are hilarious. And you do too! Whether it’s TV shows or viral online videos, people just can’t get enough silly animals. Absurd Planet is a nature documentary produced by Condé Nast Entertainment and Love Productions USA. It was released on April 22, 2020, and distributed by Netflix.
The show features a unique twist – humorous narration from Mother Nature herself! So check out the trailer link below and the show on Netflix. Maybe you’ll catch Mother Nature joking about one of your clips!
“The Rocky Doris/Pond5 partnership was born out of a licensing deal with Netflix when they allocated funds for a brand-new episodic production called Absurd Planet. It is a parody of Animal Planet, featuring real animals in nature, but accompanied by SFX (Sound Effects) and quirky voiceovers done by the producers of the show. It’s absurd, silly and family-friendly, and took a full year to put together, just in time to air in our homes at the height of the lockdown in the US. The show is distributed by Netflix, and we worked directly with the production company Rocky Doris based out of California. We were tasked with doing content research for 12 episodes, and a total of 2,099 total assets were licensed total.
Pond5 makes up about 35% of the content for Season 1.”

The Chicks: Gaslighter
Famous American platinum-selling country-pop trio, previously known as the Dixie Chicks, released a new music video to their hit song Gaslighter. The inclusion of Pond5 content helps to flesh out and complement the vibe of this video, which is directed by Seanne Farmer.

Louis Vuitton: Instagram Campaign
Louis Vuitton needs no introduction but we’ll give one anyway. Also known as LV or Louis Vuitton Malletier, they are a French luxury fashion house and retail company founded in 1854 that offers a huge range of high-end products from shoes, bags and leather goods to jewellery and even books!
You can spot the famous LV monogram and distinctive brown and gold colour combination on outfits worn by Angelina Jolie, Billie Eilish and many others. Louis Vuitton reached out to us for archival footage for one of their ad campaigns. We were happy to oblige!
