Most Wanted in December

Thanksgiving celebrations have wrapped up and winter is around the corner. Winter is associated not only with the magic of holidays, fairy tales and cosy moments with loved ones by the family fireplace but also with holiday shopping sprees. In fact, when it comes to the winter holidays, Americans are the world’s biggest spenders. So what does this mean for you? It’s time to start producing content for Pond5’s holiday shoppers! This month‘s Buyer Requests brings you the following themes: Vintage Holidays, EU-Centric Lifestyle and Shopping Centres.

Vintage Holidays

Vintage Holidays

USE THIS SPECIAL KEYWORD IN YOUR METADATA: BRVINTAGEHOLIDAYS2020
What was old is new again! This year there’s lots of interest around holiday-themed content with a vintage look and feel. Think of aluminium Christmas trees, tiki-themed Christmas parties, and classic Coca-Cola Santa Claus to get you going. For further inspiration watch the 1954 American film, “White Christmas.”

  • Retro Christmas Decorations
  • Vintage-Themed Christmas Party
  • Christmas in Hawaii
  • Surfer Christmas
  • Vintage Santa
  • Ugly Christmas Sweater Party

EU-Centric Lifestyle

EU-Centric Lifestyle

USE THIS SPECIAL KEYWORD IN YOUR METADATA: BREULIFESTYLE2020
There is an increasing amount of requests for lifestyle shots of people in the EU. Of course, there are plenty of clips on our site that fit the “lifestyle” category, but they are not necessarily easily recognizable as being in Spain, Italy, Germany, Croatia, etc. In other words, please make sure that your clips have the right European feel, especially when choosing locations for your production. Think about old-fashioned street markets, medieval landmarks, historical city centres etc..

Pro-Tip from a European Pond5er

“We Europeans really care about ecology. Many of us young people go low-waste or even zero-waste. We reflect our eco-friendly approach in our everyday lives. We love second-hand shops, sustainable fashion, hipster picnics, and prefer local fresh markets over supermarkets. Vegetarianism/veganism is gaining popularity. Things to consider while prepping your production!”

Shot List Thought Starters

  • Families having dinner together (national dishes, traditional meals, think about bratwursts, Swedish meatballs, Spanish Paella, Greek Moussaka, Wiener Schnitzel, Hungarian Goulash or Czech Svickova)
  • European holidays (such as Christmas etc.)
  • Families watching television together
  • Couples shopping for groceries (also, think of diversity, such as same-sex couples, mixed-race couples etc.)
  • Children studying at home
  • Couples driving together in a European city
  • Couples riding bikes together

Suggested Keywords

Family, Couple, Kids, Children, Eating, Studying, Watching, Driving, Shopping, National Dish, Sustainable, Zero-waste, Eco-friendly, Vegetarian, Vegan

Target Group

Ad agencies and digital media companies.

Shopping Centres

Shopping Centres

USE THIS SPECIAL KEYWORD IN YOUR METADATA: BRSHOPPINGCENTRES2020
There are some great shopping centre clips on the site already, but customers are looking for some fresh additions to this category. Since many shopping centres in cities around the world are emptier than usual due to Covid, perhaps the opportunity is there to get shots that may have been more difficult in the past. Of course, be safe and obey local guidelines!

Shot List Thought Starters

  • Empty shopping centre walkways (both commercial and editorial)
  • Window Displays
  • Shopping centre parking lots
  • Shopping centre holiday displays

Suggested Keywords

Mall, Shopping, Centre, Family, Kids, Shoppers, Shopaholic, Pandemics, Empty

Handsome Black Fitness Instructor Recording Sports Vlog At Home, Explaining… by FractalPictures

Pro-Tip: The biggest thing here is to stay safe and healthy when making this content, and don’t shoot with more people than what your government or public health agencies recommend. Secondly, do your best to cast real-looking talent with real skills to get authentic content. Also, please be conscious of logos and other intellectual property as well.

Casting Considerations:  Race and gender diversity, authenticity with talent and imagery. Accept the challenge to subtract artificiality from your setups. In other words, keep it REAL. These things will play an important role in the success of your shoot.

Location Diversity: homes, apartments, home gyms, garages, home studios, condos

Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich, Lose Somebody Music Video, Why We Hate

Content in the Wild is a fresh, recurring series about you – your success, your talent and your hard work. In each installment, we’ll reveal three high-profile projects that are using Pond5 media. All deals were facilitated through the work of the Pond5 Creative Partner Team. Stay inspired because this is where your work ends up!

  • Radical Media – Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich

Philanthropist. Businessman. Sex offender. Jeffrey Epstein moved in powerful circles and remained untouchable for a long time. Why? This four-part documentary miniseries based on the 2016 book of the same name by James Patterson tries to find the answer.

The documentary features interviews with several survivors, along with former staff members and former police chief Michael Reiter, a key individual from the first criminal case against Epstein. Filthy Rich was released in May 2020 on Netflix.

As is often the case with our Production clients, particularly when they are working on high profile projects, this started under the working title “Untitled Florida Project” – ultimately becoming this documentary surrounding the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. It’s always exciting to see Pond5 content being used in such impactful projects.”

  • KYGO ft. One Republic – Lose Somebody

Global superstar, producer and DJ Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll, or Kygo, released a music video for the single Lose Somebody, featuring the popular band OneRepublic, lots of green screen and, of course, your footage! We’re in love with its playful and quirky style! Who would expect to see Ryan and Kygo riding an ostrich in space? Not us. This music video has almost 10 million views already and we’re proud to see your work involved.

  • P5 Commentary

“What’s unique about this music video is that it was filmed in the peak of the U.S. coronavirus lockdown. The artists weren’t able to film a traditional video so their team at Sony Music Entertainment reached out to license footage to complete their greenscreen format. Lose Somebody remains at the top of Kygo’s Spotify chart since June. This video is a great example of how stock footage can help creatively when filming on location faces challenges during a pandemic.”

  • Jigsaw Production – Why We Hate

Have you ever asked yourself, what causes hatred? What is it behind the scenes that drives this visceral emotion? What are its origins? Why We Hate sets out to answer these questions in a six-part documentary television series described as “an exploration into the human condition of hatred and how we can overcome it.”

Produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television and Alex Gibney’s Jigsaw Productions, it was released on the Discovery Channel on October 13, 2019. Pond5 artists’ footage makes up a huge part of this documentary.

“Why We hate dives into the psychological reasons for racism, xenophobia, tribalism and other negative reactions we experience as a society. A group of Anthropologists, sociologists and psychiatrist help explain and define why we feel that way, and how we can overcome it. We are excited to see your content being used in such interesting projects like this one.”
