  • Dancing with the Stars

Dancing with the Stars is an American dance competition and television series that premiered June 1, 2005 on the US television network ABC. It is based on the British TV series Strictly Come Dancing produced by BBC Studios, the commercial arm of the BBC.

Currently, the format has been licensed to air in 60 territories around the world. The format of the show consists of a celebrity paired with a professional dancer. Each couple performs a number of predetermined dances each week, competing against others for judges’ points and audience votes. The couple receiving the lowest combined total of judges’ points and audience votes is eliminated each week until only one couple remains.

“Season twenty-nine of Dancing with the Stars premiered September 14, 2020 on the US television network ABC. In the Fall of 2019, I worked closely with the team at Lime Grove Productions, which is responsible for clearance and post-production of this reality TV series.

The show normally consists of 10-15 episodes so I was thrilled to see how Pond5 could help in their filling air-time due to the unfortunate travel restrictions that were in place. Based on several conversations regarding content the show would need, including establishing shots from places they could not travel to, plus editorial clearances for commercial use, we determined an upfront credit pack deal would help with both savings and licensing efficiency throughout the production. We also gave them a bonus to work with and the show recently wrapped-up filming.

The new season is packed with celebrities including animal activist and star of Tiger King, Carole Baskin, rapper and singer Nelly, and female actor Anne Heche.

  • For All Mankind Season 2

For All Mankind is an American sci-fi TV series created and written by Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi for Apple TV+.

The series portrays an alternate history depicting what would have happened if the global space race had never ended, with the Soviet Union succeeding in the first crewed Moon landing, ahead of the United States.

“The team at Sony Pictures Entertainment has relied on Pond5’s archival library for the last two seasons of the show. In this recent season, they chose to include several historical shots to support the time period of the show around the Moon landing and what would have happened if the Soviets had gotten there first.”

  • Asylum Entertainment

The Content Group, formerly Asylum Entertainment, has produced thousands of hours of reality TV series, miniseries, documentaries and features, both scripted and unscripted, and in all formats.

Their ongoing series, limited series, events, and anthologies such as ORIGINS: THE JOURNEY OF HUMANKIND or BREAKTHROUGH for National Geographic, Oxygen’s IN ICE COLD BLOOD, and Eli Roth’s HISTORY OF HORROR, an AMC series that delves into the rich stories behind the horror genre’s most influential films, have captivated audiences worldwide.

“Pond5 has been providing assets to Asylum Entertainment for several years. I originally negotiated a Minimum Spend Agreement with them back in 2017. In 2018, when Asylum’s production schedule was lighter for the coming 2019 season, Pond5 worked with them on a pay-as-you-go basis. The following year, Asylum’s production schedule increased for 2020 and their need for stock assets increased, so we agreed on a credit pack to provide creative content for all their projects in 2021.”

Hispanic & Latino People

Hispanic & Latino People

Beautiful, high-spirited and rich in traditions – these and many more narratives describe the Hispanic and Latino cultures. Did you know that Hispanic and Latino terms are often used interchangeably but have different meanings? It’s generally accepted that “Hispanic” refers to Spanish-speaking backgrounds and the term “Latino” refers to people from the Latin American region only. Our buyers are looking for fresh faces of Hispanic and Latino cultures. Moreover, don’t forget that diversity is a top theme of 2021. Remember to add this additional keyword to your clips: DIVERSITYP5BRIEF.

Shot List Thought Starters

  • Hispanic and Latino traditional art (paintings, colorful fashion, make-up)
  • Hispanic & Latino traditional events, holidays and festivals
  • Hispanic and Latino people engaged in everyday activities (cooking, shopping, working out, watching TV, eating traditional dinner together, meeting their families) cleared for commercial use
  • Individuals of all ages with Hispanic and Latino heritage dancing and celebrating
People of Hispanic and Latino ethnicity engaged in religious activities, such as praying, going to church
  • Traditional Hispanic food heritage – traditional food served as dinner, close-ups of the food on a plate, people of Hispanic origin preparing traditional food
  • Hispanic & Latino Families spending time together

Suggested Keywords

Hispanic heritage, Latino heritage, Hispanic culture, Latino people, traditional, Spanish-speaking origin, Mexican food

Target Group

All groups, but specifically ad agencies and corporate clients.

First, always keep in mind that naturally-looking content cleared for commercial use is much more attractive for our buyers than overly “stocky” clips, especially for filmmakers who want to mix their own footage with media from our collections. Secondly, clips cleared for commercial use should never contain any logos or 3rd party intellectual property, unless you get a property release from the owner. Additionally, any recognizable person in the clip should sign a model release. We highly recommend considering diverse actors or models of all ages, ethnicities, races, religions, genders or sexual orientations. Lastly, choosing the right metadata is crucial for the search algorithm. Never spam your metadata with irrelevant keywords.

Home Gardening

Home Gardening

We are happy to report that low-waste lifestyles and eco-friendly thinking are now trending more than ever. Ecological topics, along with diversity, are going to be a big focus this year, so keep both of these in mind as a trending category and an evergreen concept throughout 2021. Did you know that aquaponics systems combining aquaculture (raising aquatic animals such as fish or snails in tanks) with hydroponics (cultivating plants in water) consume around 90% less water and have 10 times larger production per unit than traditional agriculture without any fertilizers or chemistry? Welcome to the future!

Shot List Thought Starters

  • Aquaponics systems in use (people checking the quality of production, maintenance of the system)
  • People of all ages, races, genders, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity growing plants on a balcony
  • The current trend of using a community garden
  • Smart and robotic flower pots watering plants

Suggested Keywords

Green, renewable, eco-friendly, aquaponics system, aquaculture, hydroponics, bio, organic, low waste, agriculture, smart agriculture, self-watering flower pots, water garden, indoor garden, etc.

Target Group

Ad agencies, agricultural companies, eco-friendly organizations

Music Briefs - WomanPlaying Electric Guitar

New month, new music briefs. This month we’re looking for Explainer Video Themes, Percussive Stomp and Acid House tracks.

Once you’ve completed your work, apply a unique code to each track – just add the code (provided in each brief) to your keyword tags when you upload. As a result, we’ll know which genre you’ve been focusing on.

Also, if you have any questions or comments about any of these music briefs, please email Pond5’s Director of Audio Collections, Mike Pace, at

Explainer Video Theme

A popular Pond5 search term is “explainer video.” In this case, many customers are looking for upbeat, techy, somewhat “corporate” aspirational tracks. Arpeggios and ascending chord progressions work well here.

  • SUGGESTED KEYWORDS: explainer video, how to video, tutorial, infographic, tech, techy, corporate, arpeggio

Percussive Stomp

All percussion, all the time! Get creative with drum patterns and come up with some booming, energizing crowd-pleasers. Buckets, bells, toms and kicks are all on the table!

  • SUGGESTED KEYWORDS: percussion, stomp, drums, drumline, buckets, boom

Acid House

Where were you in 88? We’re looking for the sound that swept UK raves that summer…4/4, deep bass, liberal use of the Roland 303 and a general letting loose on the dance floor.

  • SUGGESTED KEYWORDS: Acid House, EDM, UK, 303, rave

Don’t Forget:

Take advantage of the 50-keyword limit and add both broad and specific keywords. On the other hand, do not use recognizable band or artist names, please!

We also encourage you to submit separate :15 and :30 versions of these tracks for social-media use.

Moreover, please note you can apply tags to existing tracks in your portfolio.

Pro-Tip: The biggest thing here is to stay safe and healthy when making this content, and don’t shoot with more people than what your government or public health agencies recommend. Secondly, do your best to cast real-looking talent with real skills to get authentic content. Also, please be conscious of logos and other intellectual property as well.

Casting Considerations:  Race and gender diversity, authenticity with talent and imagery. Accept the challenge to subtract artificiality from your setups. In other words, keep it REAL. These things will play an important role in the success of your shoot.

Location Diversity: homes, apartments, condos, garages, home studios/offices, businesses
