Model & Property Releases

A written model release must accompany any contributor submissions with identifiable people. A model release is a signed document confirming consent of the person or persons within the contributor’s media to use their name and likeness for commercial use.

Model Release Requirements

Please provide all the information on the release form. All the following fields are required:
 

Adult Release:

• Full first name and surname or business name of the artist
• Shoot date(s)
• First name and surname of the model (or minor)
• Model’s mailing address or email address
• Model’s date of birth
• Model’s Signature
• For mature content, the model must be over 18 years of age, and we require the model’s government-issued photo ID for confirmation.

Minor Release:

• Full first name and surname or business name of the artist
• Shoot date(s)
• First name and surname of the mode, the minor
• First name and surname of the model’s parent or guardian
• Releaser’s mailing address or email address
• Model’s date of birth
• Signature of the model’s parents or guardian

Ensure all releases have full (first and last), legible names printed.

We strongly suggest you complete releases in English.

The use of SAG talent is not permitted.

Here are links to our standard Model Release and Model Release (Minor). We do not require you to use our releases. However, if you use a different release, it must contain the same required information listed above.

• PDF
• DOC
• TIF

Note: Release files must be at least 5KB in size.

A written Property Release must accompany any contributor submissions with property (real or intellectual) or objects. A property release is a signed document confirming that the owner approves property within the contributor’s media for commercial use.

Property Release Requirements

Please provide all the information on the release form. All the following fields are required:

• Full first name and surname or business name of the artist
• Shoot date(s)
• First name and surname of the individual owner or corporate owner/authorized representative of the property or object
• The mailing address. This can be entered in either the Property Information or Property Owner/Ownership Information fields.
• Property or object owner’s signature

Please ensure all releases have full (first and last), legible names printed.

Uploading via browser

Our recommended best practice is to upload the release form for approval first so that you can attach it to the proper media file during tagging. Once a release form is uploaded and approved, you will see a checkmark on the left. This means it is ready to be attached to your files. You can simply upload your files by clicking on Upload Property/Model Releases button.

Uploading Releases Via FTP

• Log into the FTP as you normally would when you upload media.
• Create a root directory releases, if you do not see one already there already
• Drag and drop your release files inside the HTML5 uploader area or inside the releases folder of the FTP.

 
Release files are usually small file sizes, so the upload will finish almost instantly. After you’ve uploaded the attachments, they will hover in your FTP releases folder for typically 2-10 minutes, depending on the FTP server load. When the upload is finished, you should see the files that uploaded successfully in your Releases page.

To attach a release to your media files follow the steps below:

1. 1. Log into your account
   2. Hover cursor over your avatar
   3. Click on Uploads

1. 1. Select the relevant file for the release
   2. Scroll down to the Actions drop-down menu
      • Choose “Attach Release”

1. 1. • Select the corresponding release from the drop-down menu

1. • Release list too long? Type the first few letters of the filename into the Filter field and hit Update, then select the file. Easy!
2. Select Execute
3. Wait for the confirmation window to confirm successful attachment.

Checking Attached Releases

You can make sure all your files have the correct number of releases by refreshing the Uploads page.

• • Find the Clip Details tab
  • In the Release column, the number next to the attachment icon indicates the number of releases attached to your clip.
  • Click on this number for a list of release names.

No model releases are needed for this video, since the silhouette is not recognizable.

A model release is required for this clip. Although the woman in the clip is not really recognizable, she is shown in a bikini and may be identified and recognizable by any beauty marks that she may have.

Although the child in this clip is barely recognizable, we highly recommend that a model release is submitted whenever minors are involved.

All people featured in the clip are recognizable and require a release.

A property release is required for this clip. The design is unique which makes this building recognizable.

A property release is required for this clip. The interior of the museum is recognizable and it is a ticketed event. All ticketed events require a release.

No releases are required for this clip. There are no team logos, distinctive designs or names to make the game/stadium recognizable – so no property release is required. The players are not identifiable and there are no names on the jerseys so no model releases are required.
